Hot Rod Ford
Hot rods are generally vintage roadsters, such as the 1930 Ford - stripped down, revved up and painted in vibrant colors to represent their new, exciting firepower. Hot Rod Ford is a perfect example of this American car genre. While there are reflections and a bit of chrome, the main emphasis in this triptych is the brightly colored flame patterns reflected on the cadmium red orange background. With the use of multi canvases, I have been able to make three different paintings of the same vehicle - all combined to make a larger, vibrant abstraction that goes well beyond the original subject matter.
