Gold Digger

The Gold Digger is a chopper built in New Orleans by Metry Customs owned by Ivy Trosclair. Ivy rose to prominence in the bike builder world with this bike, which won first in its class in both Daytona and Sturgis in 2004. I wanted to paint a world-renown bike and so collaborated with Ivy. We decided to depict the entire bike on the Mississippi River levee behind Audubon Park. To show as much of the bike as possible I painted the opposite side in reflection.

"Indeed each chopper is a kind of motorhead haiku, a biker's best expression of beauty."
- Tom Zimberoff, Art of the Chopper

"...Gold Digger, a dreamy view of an ultra-sleek custom motorcycle that appears to rise like an apparition from a spit of land surrounded by swamp. Here the painting simply offers a view, as if through a window, of its fantastical subject.
- Bookhardt, Gambit Magazine
