Last June, Mobile's Centre for the Living Arts chose New Orleans to be the first subject in a projected series of exhibitions on the visual arts in cities of the Southeast. The show was scheduled for Nov. 4, 2005, through Jan. 8, 2006, at Space 301, a gallery sponsored by the not-for-profit, which was founded in 1999. Though many Louisiana artists lost homes and studios in the wake of hurricane Katrina, the show will go on, organized by New Orleans painter Jacqueline Bishop, who has relocated to Mobile. "Made in New Orleans: A Survey of Contemporary Art from the Crescent City" will feature works in all mediums; confirmed participants include Bishop, Luiz Cruz Azaceta, Ron Bechet, Raine Bedsole, Willie Birch, Douglas Bourgeois, Jeffrey Cook, Lin Emery, Alan Gerson, David Halliday, Dona Lief, Lory Lockwood, Bradley Sabin, Karoline Schleh, John Scott, Elizabeth Shannon, Alexander Stolin and Robert Warrens. The Centre is working to develop a multicity tour for the exhibition.
